Department started education for the first time in 2009-2010 academic year with undergraduate students. In the academic year of 2008-2009, graduate education established with the Master's degree in the Department of Forest Industrial Engineering. Following the academic year of 2012-2013 PhD education also started. There are 56 undergraduate and 27 graduate level students enrolled. Academic Staff include 2 Proffessors, 4 associate proffessors, 3 Assistant Professor Doctors and 8 research assistants.

Admission Requirements

A two-stage examination system is applied in transition from secondary education to higher education. Exams are conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Detailed information about the exams can be accessed from the internet address The first stage of the examination system is a common and single examination called "Transition to Higher Education Exam(YGS).
The "Transition to Higher Education Exam" is a test that measures the adequacy for transition to higher education and those who successfully complete secondary education and wish to study higher education will be subject to this exam. Candidates scoring at least 180 points in YGS (Transition to Higher Education Exam) with at least one point type have the right to take the Undergraduate Placement Exams (LYS) in the second stage. In this exam, students who can get enough points from “MF-4” score type are entitled to study in the program.

Students completing undergraduate programs successfully may apply to the graduate programs.

Graduation Requirements
Students who complete the all programme courses successfully (total expected credit of 240 ECTS), got at least 2.0 GPA (out of 4) academic average, completed a satisfactory graduation thesis and work intership schedule , get the rights to graduate with the title of Forest Industrial Engineer.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The main working areas of the Forest Industry Engineers are the enterprises producing massive wood and/or wood originated materials. The main tasks to be fulfilled by a forest industry engineer can be summarized as in the following list:

Assessment and Grading
Each course is assessed via a midterm exam, a second mid-term study composed of quizzes, homeworks and assignments, and a final end-of-term exam, with contributions of 50% and 50% respectively. The marking is made out of 100. Students who got the mark of (AA),(BA),(BB),(CB) and (CC) are accepted successful.
In addition, students with a grade point average of at least 2.00 for one semester are considered successful from the courses they have received (DC) until the end of that semester.This result is expressed as (DC+).
